Site visit to Pernis
Young Shell organised a site visit to Pernis last Friday and I was still young enough to come along! Before entering the site we had to do a security test and an H2S gas test. If you did not pass these tests you were not aloud to enter the site...Lots of steel pipes, distillation tanks, compressors, steam and control rooms on this huge refinery. Very impressive to see the 'real' business!
It was not allowed to take pictures on site but I took some snapshots from the bus... By the way... did you know Pernis refines 0,5% of the worlds oil?

Just curious: did everyone pass the gas test?
I did not pass it the first time around and was not able to print the certificate that was needed to enter the site. The second time around I was succesfull and printed of my certificate... So everybody in the end passed the test!
